Depleted Indexes

Depleted Indexes is an evolving participatory sub-series within records of senses_Index that extends the project’s investigation of sensory calibration into the exhibition space. A selection of index drawings is presented as a temporary archive. Visitors compose their own group from the available works and take that selection with them, gradually depleting the installation over the course of the exhibition. The number of works displayed and the number selected may vary across different iterations, venues, and contexts. The work is not concerned with collecting preferences or measuring audience taste. Each act of selection functions as a process of perceptual calibration, echoing the way each drawing emerged through prolonged negotiation between sensation, material resistance, attention, and fatigue. As the archive is progressively depleted, the installation becomes a cumulative record of these successive calibrations. The empty spaces left behind are not evidence of absence, but of the work continuing to unfold through the decisions of others, allowing the archive itself to become a visible trace of shared perception over time.
