Artist Bio

Hounyeh Kim is a visual artist born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised between Korea and the United States. She studied literature in Seoul and later studied fine art in the U.S. Her background in both writing and visual art continues to shape her way of thinking and working.

She makes drawings, prints, and installations that focus on stillness, slowness, and attention. Her work does not aim to tell a single story or give one clear meaning. Instead, it invites the viewer to spend time, to look closely, and to stay open. Her compositions are quiet and layered, encouraging a slower way of seeing.

Kim is interested in ideas like non-duality and the interconnectedness of things. These ideas guide her process and help her hold different elements together, like softness and intensity, or emptiness and detail. Rather than creating work that explains something, she creates spaces that allow people to pause and reflect.

She currently lives and works in Berlin.
